Leon takes Title number 13
Posted by admin on Monday, May 25, 2009 (18:57:54) (271 reads)
The season came to an end in the National Stadium with literally a bang, with our 48kg giant Leon Lynch stopping his Northern opponent Blaine Dobbins, from St Josephs Derry in the second round, the bout started very cagily with Leon settling in nicely sussing out the southpaw style,Leon was 2-1 down after the 1st,but we had done our homework on Dobbins, leading with the right was'nt working to well in the first,so plan B came into action,in the 2nd Leon used his reach advantage and started using his left jab, lining up the big right,in our eyes he was scoring sweet with the jab but the judges still seemed to be giving the scores to his opponent, that was enough,Leon pushed forward landing big lefts and rights, his opponent getting 3 counts in the round, that was enough for Leon landing his 3rd all Ireland with a stoppage, what a way to end the season leon taking the 13th title for Geesala Boxing Club,Josie Conroy was very unlucky to go out in the early stages of the Competition, this was due mainly to the competition coinciding with her tour to France,Josie will overcome this mishap and will surely take more titles for Geesala in the future.....Check out our pics in the Gallery.

9 Titles and Counting
Posted by contributor on Sunday, April 26, 2009 (15:42:26) (304 reads)
It started off with Pat winning his Intermediate Title, then we headed to the boy and girl 4,youth 1 and 2 all Irelands,Katie Rowland was 2nd to have her hand raised as champ then josie Conroy taking the 3rd title,Michelle lynch was narrowly defeated in her final, after a fantastic semi final win, next was Anthony Coyle who completely dominated his three opponents taking the 4th title for Geesala, onto the boy and girl 1,2 and 3 Championships Peter Howard had a fantastic 7-0 record coming into these Championships beating all comers in the Mayos and Connacht Qulaifiers, but was very unlucky in his first taste of the National Stadium,Darren Timlin was unfortunate not to get into the semi's,Shane Mcintyre had a great pre lim win and lost out by the narrowest of margins 2-1 in the semi final, then it was Dylan Lynch's turn to take the 5th title, boxing smart taking the bout on a 10-7 scoreline, history was made when his sister Kelly took the 6th title, the first time a set of twins attaining this accolade,7th title went to cousin Jacqui lynch in the 33kg class,8th title went to older sister Shona Lynch in the G2 39kg class giving her her 2nd title in two years, the 9th title went to our "million dollar baby" louise donohue totally dominating her opponent,See all the champions on our picture gallery, also Anthonys and Louise's Finals are on the video links at the top of the home page,so thats 9 titles so far this season but we're not finished yet, with Shane in the Cadets, and Leon and Josie in the Juniors!!!!!!!!

Sorry for taking so long to report on Pat's great win,but I was unable to access our site for months.Pat had a fantastic All Irelands only conceding two points on his way to a 91kg intermediate title,Pat was in control all the way using his reach advantage to dominate his opponents.a great nights celebrating continued into the following day where a large cavalcade of cars met with us in corrick to geesala with bonfires along the route,This is Pats third all Ireland title and hopefully he will be adding a senior title to the list, when he takes part next friday the 6th February,All the best to Pat in these Championships,He has put a lot of hard work in over the last six weeks, and he has been and inspiration to all the other boxers in the Club.Check out some of the pictures in the photo gallery section.

Dazzler sparkles in Kiltimagh,Coyle the king in Ballina
Posted by admin on Thursday, November 13, 2008 (17:47:29) (384 reads)
We travelled to Kiltimagh last Friday night,a good nights work with Darren the Dazzler Timlin in top form, boxing Maughan from Kiltimagh, Darren boxed textbook style taking all three rounds easily, next in was John Reilly taking on Regan,Johns sharp crisp jabs was too much for his kiltimagh opponent, taking the bout comfortably.last in was big Dave Timlin taking on home favourite Tommy Conroy, three hard rounds of boxing ensued with the local man getting the nod from the judges.
On Wednesday we were in Ballina, first in was Liam Ginty,Liam boxed an excellent first round, but allowed his Swinford opponent Mcnicholas back in over the next two rounds, when the fitness levels start to rise,Liam will be a formidable opponent for any boxer at his weight and age, onto the next bout,it was last years boxer of the year Anthony Coyles turn to make his seasonal debut, but young Gary Sweeney had other ideas, giving Anthony plenty to think about in the first round, but Anthony turned on the style in the second and third rounds, using his boxing skills to earn a well deserved victory.next on the calendar is the Ardagh tournament on Friday night in Crossmolina.....
